Asian Youth Day "Changed My Life"

By Rosa Julia Abira
(Sunday School Leader Japanese Group)

I really enjoyed my time in Asian Youth Day. It brought so much joy within me.

Firstly, I was happy to know that there were so many young people that I could share my faith with. Here in Japan, since Catholics are a minority, I have had little chance to share my faith with my peers. So, I was so happy that I could share about my Catholic faith with my fellow young people with the same faith at the AYD gathering…our thoughts and experiences of our faith journey. The AYD experience really makes me think deeper about my faith.

Secondly, I felt so much of the loving and kindness of all the people that I met over there.
Indonesian people are very kind. They are very generous. They gave me so many things without asking anything in return. I also loved having daily mass and prayers, with praising and singing to the Lord together. I felt the outpouring of God's love and grace in us.

Lastly, I went through many trials and obstacles before I went to Indonesia… but thanks be to God I was still able to participate with the help of many people and most especially for their prayers.
Ten days of experience in this AYD has changed me. I surely and clearly feel a change deep inside of me. I cannot explain exactly what it is but yet I know it is something mysterious. And I am grateful to God for whatever change comes to me.

Thank you very much!
