The Living Rosary

Month of Rosary (October)

By Marie Takeuchi – International Community Member

At end of the month of the Rosary, last October 30, Sunday, we had a Living Rosary prayer service. A Living Rosary is a prayer service where each person represents one of the beads of the Rosary and leads the corresponding prayer while reflecting on the mysteries of Jesus’ life.

It was held at St. Ignatius church lawn. This was a collaborative event with the Spanish-Speaking group, the English-Speaking group and Japanese group. The prayers were said in English, Spanish, Japanese, Tagalog and Indonesian. There were about one-hundred people who participated in this event. Every single person who represented the Rosary bead held a balloon (in different colors) to represent the different nationalities. It was truly a rich diverse community atmosphere that afternoon; different nationalities, young and old, men and women, etc.

Even though we spoke in different languages, we were united as ONE through our prayers in the presence of the Mother of God, Blessed Virgin Mary.
Fr. Firmansyah, SJ closed the prayer service with the blessing of peace.

We look forward to having more people participate next year, especially among the young people.
